Managing Director – USA

Shyam is a global investment professional with a focus on India and South East Asia. He is currently Director of Private Corporate Credit and Head of Consumer Credit at the Canopy Group (Formerly CX Partners Intermediate Credit Fund). Through his experience transacting across over 20 countries, Shyam combines a global investing mindset with over 11 years of South/SE Asian on-the-ground expertise.

Shyam was formerly Director of Arthur Phillip, a boutique Australian merchant bank where he helped grow and manage it’s global natural resources portfolio. Prior to that, he focused on Asian and Indian structured credit investments as an Investment Professional with Standard Chartered’s Alternative Investment Group in Hong Kong and Mumbai. Shyam started his career as a TMT Analyst with Wasserstein Perella & Co. in New York where he advised on over $8 billion in M&A and restructuring transactions.

He currently an advisor to Dreamlabs, a Singapore-based venture capital fund. He is also a Vice President and co-founder of the HBS Club of Singapore.

Shyam has a BS in Economics with High Honors from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School

In his spare time, he enjoys kitesurfing, adventure travel, mountain climbing, films and cooking.
